FOH_Scrubs

Front of House Scrubs is an interactive audio-visual performance in which Laroche takes on the role of surgeon-technologist operating on information sets, including members of the public. The intervention proposes an aesthetic correction of these sets.

With his back to the audience and wearing a suit comprising various sensors, cameras and contact mics, the performer first works on the mise en abîme of video and sound material. In a second stage, the performer faces the audience, inviting them to join him on stage, creating some kind of human mosh pit. By entering into physical contact with the audience, the performer jostles them and is himself jostled. Amplified by the various sensors, this “people scrubbing” then constitutes the raw material with which the performance is reconstructed.
